BNE 01 · Moreton Bay
The Bay
Coastal Liqueur
Lemon myrtle and pineapple liqueur·25% ABV
"Bright, generous, coastal"
The place
Moreton Bay covers almost 3,400 km² of sand islands, seagrass and open water off Brisbane's front door. It's home to three species of dolphin, herding dugong and six of the world's seven sea turtle species, and more than 50,000 migratory shorebirds spend the southern summer on its tidal flats.
On the mainland side, the farms around Wamuran and Elimbah have grown pineapples for Brisbane for generations.
The spirit
Lemon myrtle, native to Queensland's subtropical rainforests, gives the coast its citrus. Pineapple comes from the farms behind the bay. Coconut is there because that's what a day on the water tastes like.
The result is a soft, sunny liqueur made for long afternoons, poured over ice.
